Saving The Split Level

Here, we designed an addition to an existing split level home just north of Decatur, Georgia, built in the 1960s. We expanded the Living Room, Dining Room, Master Suite and Basement Recreation Room by adding twelve feet to the rear of the house.

A new Screened Porch was added to the back of the garage. This required the design of a new roof layout to blend the additions to the existing house without disturbing the look of the front elevation. Thus, we kept the new design within the context of the neighborhood and in line with local regulations (see plan).

We recently went back and designed a new addition to the front of the house to enlarge the Kitchen, Breakfast Room and Foyer. The front of the house changes slightly but is till in keeping with the rest of the house in the neighborhood.
